Popular Electrolux Rapido is now sporting a granite grey body that harmonises with the darker colours and stainless-steel surfaces of modern kitchens. And there are new tints for the transparent dust covers. The wet and dry vacuum cleaner models, which are especially useful for handling kitchen spills instead of using a damp cloth or paper towel, get the water-themed colors of Bahama blue and cyan for their dust covers. The standard vacuums come in cheerful shades of raspberry and cassis. Both, wet and dry vacuum cleaners and the standard ones have wheels on the front, just like previous versions did. The wheels not only prevent scratching surfaces, they help control the distance to the surface for optimum pick-up.
The most powerful model is the top of the range Rapido ZB4112 which offers cyclonic cleaning. This improves the performance due to the design of the air inlet. The air starts to swirl when entering the vacuum, which separates the dust particles from the filters, ensuring that the filter is not clogging over time. The two top cleaners also feature on-board storage of their brush and crevice tools and running time of up to 15 minutes for the 9.6 volt model and up to 20 minutes for the 12-volt model.
Other highlights include 0.5 litre dust bin, rechargeable and cordless design, LED charging indicator, table standing and wall mountable unit, and easy to grasp handle. The light vacuums weigh just 1.8kg and come with crevice nozzle and dusting brush. Wet and dry models also have rubber squeegee. Prices are £40 and £60 for ZB4106 Hallon Berry and ZB4112 Cassis standard cleaners respectively, while the wet and dry ZB4106WD Cyan and ZB4104WD Bahama Blue sells for £50 each. Available from June 2011. Electrolux.
